Owen's Poems

“Owen’s Poems” is a cycle of art songs I composed on a choice of poems by the English poet Wilfred

Owen (1893-1918), who wrote about the war during the war, fighting in first line in

France. He died on the battlefield  one week before peace was signed in 1918, aged 25.

With an amazingly beautiful poetry he speaks to us about the hellish horrors of war, about gas warfare,

people going mad, being wounded, killed, committing suicide, but with an ultimate word for hope (“a

better man will come, fighting dead for life and not men for flags”).

The musicians are myself on double bass, Bor Zuljan on classical guitar, Nicola Orioli on clarinet and

Capucine Keller on voice. Each musician came to this project with an incredible amount of experience,

from renaissance and baroque music to free-jazz, and this perfectly fits the nature of my compositions.

We will record "Owen's Poems" on CD in July 2016.
